COVID-19 remains a major complication in all of our lives. We sincerely hope that everyone is able to stay safe and healthy as we all find our way through this "new normal".
We are making every effort to have the wedding of our dreams while keeping everyone safe. In accordance with public health measures, as well as our venue’s stipulations, please keep the following in mind:
Before you arrive:
- Health Check: Are you feeling well today? If you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, please take care of your health first and stay home.
- Make sure you have packed your prettiest mask, and comfortable shoes (as the ceremony is scheduled to take place outside on grass.)
- We are encouraging our guests to download the COVID Alert App prior to arriving.
On arrival:
- Mandatory screening: Chateau Montebello will be conducting temperature checks on arrival for all guests, vendors, and staff.

Smiling behind the mask:
- While outdoors, guests are required to wear masks when they cannot distance from others outside their bubbles.
- Masks are mandatory inside the hotel at all times.
- Masks can only be removed when guests are sitting at their tables.
- We will have masks on hand in case you forget yours!
Receiving Line:
- Out of an abundance of caution, we will be skipping the traditional receiving line, but will have a special spot to facilitate pictures with guests outdoors following the ceremony.
Let’s get physical(ly distant!):
- Physically-distanced ceremony seating (outdoors by the gazebo, or at the marquee tent).
- Immediately after the ceremony, we will host a cocktail reception outdoors (weather pending).
- “Bubbles” (members of the same household) will be seated with one more “bubble” at their respective tables – while still ensuring proper physical distancing.
- For the reception, each table will seat a maximum of two "bubbles" (members of the same household) ensuring proper physical distance is maintained between the two bubbles.
- Each table will be spaced out to accommodate proper physical distance. Our reception venue normally seats 300 guests so there is plenty of space to facilitate this set-up.
Entertainment:
- At this time, dancing is not permitted. We are brainstorming ideas to celebrate in a fun but safe way. Let us know if you have any suggestions at wedding@mariaandjames.ca
Additional measures:
- Hand-sanitizing stations will be available during cocktail and dinner, and near washrooms.
- The front desk is set up to promote physical distancing, no touch payment and electronic invoices.
- Staff will be conducting frequent cleaning and disinfecting on elevators, washrooms, and public points.
- Gloves, masks and face shields are required by staff preparing food.
- If you have booked a room as part of our block and are unable to make it, you may cancel your booking without penalty up to 72 hours prior to the event
